Episode review: Three's A Crowd

The show's on a winning streak, even if fan creations are running a bit dry at the moment.

I'm gonna say it. Funniest episode of the season. I had a smile on my face from beginning to end. The humour of this episode was so strong that it made this episode one of the season's best. There's not much left to say-it just made me really happy.

After fears that Discord would be toned down now that he's reformed, this episode comes along to show that Discord is still a jerk-he's just not being evil, per se. And he's still hilarious. Oh, you wouldn't want to know him. In person, he'd be fairly unpleasant. But watching him on-screen, he makes the episode. As is expected, he's just hilarious, and the way the other characters are shown reluctantly indulging him is priceless.

It shows the return of Princess Cadance, who's been a favourite character of mine since issues #11 and #12 of the Friendship is Magic comic. She's fine here as well, showing up in a very nicely designed crystal train. I tend to miss background details, but I've been informed that the Flash Sentry character model was in her entourage. I have nothing against the character's existence in and of itself, so of course I have no problem with his cameo. If anything, his presence with the Crystal Empire and the lack of any scenes with Twilight implies that their little non-romance in Equestria Girls didn't happen.

The main characters all seem to barely tolerate Discord, which is perfectly understandable given that he's not exactly being very pleasant. Given that they actually have to deal with Discord's bothersome presence, of course they wouldn't find him as funny as we do. The characters indulge him mostly to get him to go away, and their annoyance at him throughout is comedic gold.

What else do I say? It's the funniest episode of the season, and I'd go as far as to call it one of the entire show's funniest episodes. Truly a must-watch.
